Nicola Resto
I've been a dancer all my life and a movement teacher for over 20 years. As with most people, I discovered STOTT ® Pilates in 2000 after a disc injury left me unable to walk for the better part of an entire year. A few years later, I was introduced to GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®. Thanks to these two systems, I am able to live a life where movement is the guiding force. I've been pain free for many years now, able to exercise, travel and dance.
Michigan is were I first landed in 1999, when I moved to the United States from Germany. I taught in the dance department at the Interlochen Arts Academy and Wayne State University as well as occasional teaching stints at the University of Michigan. I worked extensively with musicians and dancers on injury prevention and rehabilitation and also hold specializations in pre/post natal Pilates and other special populations.
Recently I served as Director of Artistic Studies at Walnut Hill School for the Arts.

Wherever I moved, I opened a studio. First in Ann Arbor (now Pilates Loft), then Hamburg, Germany (now Pilates Forms) and Traverse City (Village Pilates). Here in the Detroit area, I have been welcomed as a teacher by Pilates Detroit and at Release Dance Studio in Ferndale.
The name Studio-Corpo is a nod to my Italian upbringing (corpo means body in Italian) and the space were I have spent most of my life: a ballet studio. I teach from a casita in our back yard, focusing on one-on-one instruction and à la carte offerings for body, mind and spirit.
